Cycle, How?
Take some time off the drug to allow your system to go back to pre-drug state. So imagine a drug addict, eventually he needs more and more to get high. In the same way, your body eventually gets used to the amount of drug that you are taking, and goes back to its point of homeostasis. By taking some time off in certain intervals, you don't allow your body to build up tolerance for the drug, and the positive effects should be longer lasting.

I think the cycle is different for each person, but maybe try something like 3 weeks on, and 1 week off to start with. I think it depends on the drug too, and it's half life, and ability for your body to build tolerance for it.

I think I would try that. May be even try doing the same with Trazodone?

So I tried cycling requip after about week or so hiatus. 100mg Viagra is working Ok-Ok, but the libido is still not kicking in.

I went to my neurologist yesterday. He upped my Requip dosage from 0.75mg a day to 1.5mg a day. But says if it doesn't work, or works but stops later, I should stop on it altogether. & he believes that I need to go back to SSRI.

Hi Prozac,

I'm new here and I wanted to post something on your thread as I suffer from HOCD/PSSD as well. I took Escitalopram(lexaprox, cipralex in Canada where I live).

So I was diagnosed in 2012(27yrs old) with OCD after spending 100,000$ in 8 years of therapy(tried them all) to understand WTF was going on!! I have extremely severe anxiety as well. I ocd'ed on genital herpes, aids and of course fear and belief I was a homosexual, my mind literally made me believe that I was a homo so much that I came out to my mother and sister, FML!

Anyway here's my history with meds:

April 2012 to December 2012: Lexapro 10mg(back to being a hetero)...I had delayed ejaculation but that was great as I was a Sex-Machine, I even went to Cuba by myself and met 8 different girls in 3 weeks(best time in my whole life!!). SSRI brought me a new life! So I stopped when I upped the dose to 15mg because I thought the meds weren't working anymore and it brought the sexual dysfunction. I stopped and a week later sexual function was back 100%.

So off the meds for 3 months, then went to Mexico to see this girl I met in Montreal 2 years prior and the HOCD with anxiety beyond extremely severe came back! So I told myself: "Sexual Side effects or not, I need to go back on medication"

So from April 2013 to November 20th 2014 I was back on SSRIs...I was perfectly functional for 1 1/2 year when PSSD appeared a month before stopping again. I stopped lexapro but 2 months later it was still not back to normal and worse then on meds. So got myself a new psychiatrist and he prescribed Buspar, Cialis.

So since 2 months now I've been trying many supplements/med: MACA, Ginsengs-Siberian/Korean, Buspar(cali_man experiment), Inositol which I'm on for almost 4 weeks now(pharmD experiment) and tried Cialis 4 times with success. But last Saturday my HOCD came back again with severe anxiety(3 months of meds which is expected).

Now I have no choice but to be on medication. I took 7.5mg of Mirtazapine which is not suppose to effect sexual functioning, at least in the literature it says 1 in 10,000 or something, last Saturday and it made my HOCD dissapear completely overnight. I got one morning of "morning wood" and a morning this week with high libido. So I thought I found a good med and that it would restore the function. But yesterday evening after taking it for 4 days straight, I felt hugely medicated with no libido, no sex-drive, just nothing which I've never experienced before. So I will try tonight 3.5mg(cutting the lowest dose in 4!) and I'll see what it does. I'm continuing with Inositol which I take with 600mg magnesium and vitamine B complex.

Anyway I just wanted to share some of my story...

My HOCD isn't as worse as it used to be. It comes & goes. When it comes I just tell myself "this too shall come to pass" & ignore the thoughts. Eventually I come back to normal. But there was a time that I lived every second of my life in agony because of the HOCD.

I haven't taken Mirtazapine. But in my case what ever medications that work only last a while. Other people I have talked with on forums (including here) also suffer from the same fate.

Trazodon had a good effect on my OCD, till it lasted. Also helped a little with the PSSD.

Prozac,

When were you diagnosed or realized you had OCD? And at what age did you notice that the OCD was lessening? I just turned 30 by the way...

I have had OCD in one form or the other since my early twenties. I got it diagnosed about four years ago. It started to lessen 2 years back, a little while after the Prozac withdrawal. Initially I had great bouts of depression & anxiety, & then they all slowly started to diminish. Of course the trade off hasn't been good - THE PSSD.
