Abrupt stop of Nortriptyline - advice?

Unread post by OzTiger »

Hi there,

I've had sexual dysfunction for a year or more which may be the result of this antidepressant.

I recently ran out almost 2 weeks ago as I couldn't get an appointment to get a new prescription.

I was on 50mg at bedtime.

However I haven't had any withdrawal symptoms or adverse effects as I would have expected.

I had been considering getting off them and planned a long taper.

But given I've had no adverse reaction from stopping I'm considering just keeping off them.

However I am worried about PSSD.

Any advice?

Should I recommence and taper?

Thanks for your help

You are still on drugs so this is not pssd. Pssd is when you stop. If it happens or not, depends ... Maybe yes maybe no. You have to talk to your doctor also if you want to stop and tapper slow.

General advice is to always taper down slowly, regardless if this potentially reduces the risk of pssd or not.
If you should quit taking an antidepressant is something totally different, which you should discuss with your doctor.
