A Mail on Sunday investigation is bringing to light a little-known issue that could affect the eight million Britons who take antidepressants. Experts have warned of sexual dysfunction related to commonly given SSRI drugs that can last for years after patients stop taking them. The Medical Minefield team meet Lee Thomas, who has been left with permanent erectile dysfunction after stopping SSRIs in 2019. Had he known this was a possibility, he says, he’d never have taken the drugs in the first place. Meanwhile, Dr. Joanna Moncrieff, who is investigating the harms of antidepressants, and Dr Ellie Cannon explain what we know about the science behind the phenomenon.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Ellie Cannon has a bloody nerve! She's a rentagob TV GP who, after the Moncrieff paper debunking the serotonin theory broke, went on TV to debate Professor Moncrieff. Ellie sat there rolling her eyes, acting like a petulant child. She accused Moncrieff of 'cherry picking' the papers included in her review, clearly not understanding the nature of a SYSTEMATIC review. Why she is wading in on an iatrogenic condition when she's firmly in the pro-SSRI camp is anyone's guess.
