What is the safest form of B12?

Unread post by Sofa »

Hi!

I am severly deficient in B12 and need supplements to treat it, either tablets or injections.

What is the safest form of B12 for me to take?

Took 1000 mcg cyanocobalamin two weeks ago, and still getting worse from that.

Anyone know why i reacted badly to cyanocobalamin?

Will hydroxycobalamin or methylcobalamin be better?

The safest form would be through foods. Try to eat foods from Table 2 in this article, such that you hit 100% daily value per day.

Some people react badly to high doses (IE more than possible through foods) of methylcobalamin, potentially due to it being a methyl donor to various reactions like DNA methylation.

Food will not be able to correct this fast enough i think sadly.

I need supplements so that the B12 does not cause permanent nerve damage.

Why is methylcobalamin bad? Is hydroxycobalamin better then?
