I thought that 5ht1a agonists tend to decrease serotoinin, as 5ht1a is an autoreceptor.
Presynaptic and postsynaptic 5ht1a receptors inhibit serotonin release. Agonists don't decrease serotonin. Most drugs/supplements that are 5ht1a agonists also increase serotonin.
So serotonin agonists may be dangerous?
Yes, taking them is very risky.

Antagonists will just increase 5ht firing, by blocking 5ht1a receptors, which will worsen symptoms. We need to focus on finding ways to upregulate sert. All of the negative effects we experience are caused from down stream effects of permeant sert dysfunction induced by ssri. This seems to me like the most plausible explanation for why people have reported crashing from 5ht1a agonists. Most 5ht1a agonist medications/supplements not only target the 5ht1a receptor but they also increase serotonin. If sert is down regulated in pssd, and you take a 5ht1a agonist, serotonin will build up in your system until you crash (more 5ht1a desensitization).

So if 5ht1a receptors inhibit serotonin release, wouldn't it follow that a 5ht1a agonist would inhibit serotonin release (decrease serotonin)?

Presynaptic agonists, yes. That’s what buspirone does, for instance.

I am a guy who can be CURED 6 hours after taking St. John's Wort Ze 117 extract.

I did a thread about it here:
https://raypeatforum.com/community/thre ... ine.33599/

NOW.... I am also a guy who gets CURED from a Cyproheptadine REBOUND.... That is, 1mg of cypro will make me NUMB and anhedonic, for 4 days. Then i get a miraculous rebound where I am cured.

So this means that my PSSD is very likely driven by the mofo 5-HT1A receptors. Because ALL MY ISSUES STARTED FROM ASHWAGANDHA. Ash desensitises the 5-ht1a.

So now that you mentioned CBG oil as a medium strength 5HT1a antagonist, this then means that if I respond to this, for SURE my issue is 5-HT1a.

I also get a window with ALCAR (Which is a 5-HT1A agonist... and then I crash).
This is very important one, for research.
THat's exactly according to theory. Over time it should heal you.

Please dont make bold statements like that, it carries a risk and you have no way of knowing for sure it will be a cure
