How many of you got off SSRI cold turkey

Unread post by hs1312 »

I think that our PSSD started because we tappered off from SSRI too quickly. How many of you came off SSRI cold turkey/ fast tapper?
If this is true than I think low dosing SSRI makes sense as in pete's case

What do you think

I had been on antidepressants in the past but always tapered without problems. I cold turkeyed off of sertraline because I couldn't deal with the sexual side effects... and got permanent PSSD. :(

Hi Bunny you seem to have PSSD for quite a few years. Why dont you try very low dosing SSRI and quit slowly?
I am also thinking about doing that

There are a lot of "how many of you" threads but i rarely see a poll in them.

I'm definitely thinking about it. It's actually my next treatment idea if hormone supplementation doesn't work.

Fast taper for me within 2 weeks. It all doesnt make sense to me. I still had a sex drive when on effexor. Maybe this is why people are seeing results with a low dose SSRI. It reactivates what ever mechanism was shut down with inside us.

I stopped Lexapro and Seroquel cold turkey before and got all of the nasty side effect. The brain zaps were horrible. My sex drive didn't diminish on either one of those drugs, nor did it after going cold turkey. About a year (I think) goes by and I got on Citalopram which gave me the side effects. I did a normal taper off of that and my sides never went away.
I've heard people talk about that theory but it seems a little far fetched to me. Some people went cold turkey but many didn't. Maybe you're right though. I dunno.

Did you go cold turkey and got PSSD afterward?

Unread post by Dark0047 »

So, I am trying to find a relationship if going cold turkey can cause PSSD. I myself went cold turkey after 14 days of Clomipramine 10 and Fluoxetine 10 and got PSSD afterward. I would appreciate if everyone, those who taper slowly and those who went cold turkey to say in comments about what they did. It would be useful if we find out going cold turkey can increase the chance of developing PSSD.
