PSSD since two years now :(
Hi all;
I was a member of the previous forum as well, although quite a new one. I have forgotten my previous ID so I created a new one. Hope that's not a problem.
I feel like I should reintroduce myself, so here it is;
About 8 or 9 years back I suffered major bout of OCD where I was obsessed with having ED, thus ending up with a psychological ED. I continued to live in the condition for quite a long time. Then some years later my OCD evolved into HOCD & I had enough of it, so I sought council with a psychiatrist. My psych prescribed me Faverine (SSRI) & my physician prescribed me 50mg Viagra to overcome the ED. I took Faverine for only few months but ended up with loss of penile sensation to touch, & anorgasmia. With lot of effort and concentration I managed to achieve an orgasm every time I had sex, although I could achieve orgasm through masturbation quite easily on my own. Later as my HOCD got even more severe I was prescribed Prozac 20mg twice a day. During the initial days Prozac boosted my libido & even gave me erections much stronger then Viagra. Nonetheless, I continued taking Viagra as performance anxiety remained strong when ever I tried to have sex with my wife. After being on Prozac for about 4 to 6 months my wife's gynecologist told me to stop taking Prozac as it obstructs sperm production. Sure enough when I got my semen analyzed I had very low sperm & motility count. Hence, without consulting my psych I stopped Prozac cold-turkey. Within days I had a strong withdrawal symptoms after which I suffered complete loss of libido, & above all PDE5 Inhibitors (i.e. Viagra, Cialis, Levitra) stopped responding for me. My psychological ED turned into a physiological problem(?). Worse of all my sperm count & motility continued to remain low.
This was more then two years ago. Since then I have experimented a lot. Most of the experiments have been failures. Those that succeeded ended up being short lived only. I tried Wellbutrin XL, which helped a little in the first couple of days. But later gave me retrograde ejaculation & pain in my left testicle. So I stopped. I restarted SSRI with Zoloft and later also took Effexor (SNRI), which helped PDE5i's to respond a little - just enough to force myself to an intercourse - but the effects were again short lived. I also tried combination of different natural herbal supplements (mostly by GNC) but they too had little success, & they also temporarily ended up massing with my endocrine system.
Each time I visit a doctor they say I continue to suffer from OCD & the ED remains a symptom of performance anxiety. But that doesn't explain the non-responsiveness of all PDE5i as they are known to help erase the psychological issues of ED.
About couple of months ago I experimented with Trazodone. I used to take a single 50mg cap for 3 consecutive nights, & it would give me quite satisfactory erections while on Viagra [Please note that I only used to take Viagra on the days I was not taking Trazodone]. It also helped build up some libido and pleasure. But all of this only last a month or so. So, like other drugs I gave up on Trazodone as well.
My latest experiment has been with Requip. I consulted a neurologist who prescribed me .25mg Requip thrice daily. I didn't feel hypersexual as claimed by many, but it helped build pleasure and also helped me get quite satisfactory erection while on Viagra. Sometimes I would just take two dosages at one time (.50mg) along with Viagra an hour before sex, and the results used to be quite good. But for about a week now Requip too seems to have stopped working. Erections are week & libido is minimum.
That's my long boring story. If anyone has any recommendations to add please do.

Re: PSSD since two years now :(
I forgot to add one more information & query. Requip/Ropinirole tends make my semen thin & watery. Has anyone else come across this problem while using this med?

Well, it actually increased semen amounts too, so it wasn't all bad. Traz gave me other side effects, despite actually helping my depression a bit. (although this could have been luck/placebo as I never took it for much longer than a week at a time). When I'd quit, it would go away.IHateProzac wrote:& how did you get it fixed?Ghost wrote:I came across that while using TrazodoneIHateProzac wrote:I forgot to add one more information & query. Yes I have noticed my semen amount has increased. Can't say anything about the sperm in it though.Ghost wrote:Well, it actually increased semen amounts too, so it wasn't all bad. Traz helped my OCD & Depression as well, at least as long as it was working on my ED issue.
Another thing I have noticed recently that my scrotum feels normal warm to touch. For a very long time it always felt cold, even before I started taking the SSRI. I don't know whether this is the effect of Trazodone or Requip, & whether the cold scrotum is something to be worried about or the normal warm?

That's interesting. The main side effect that I quit for was pain and dicomfort in my genitals. It got to the point where it hurt to pee, an the discomfort was persistant. At this point, I stopped taking Traz, and it all went away in a few days or a week.IHateProzac wrote:Yes I have noticed my semen amount has increased. I get severe pain in my left testicle on Wellbutrin XL, along with retrograde ejaculation. Same but very mild pain on Requip & Traz. Is something going on here? Can it be related to PSSD?Ghost wrote:

Then it should have also happened while I was taking Effexor (SNRI), but it didn't. Nevertheless, Effexor gave me a different kind of pain in genitals. It felt like a sting.catalunya wrote:
i think that the pain and retrograde ejaculation are infrequent side-effects related to norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors. they (along with painful ejaculation/orgasm) have been reported with atomoxetine and reboxetine as well.
Anyway; the good effects of Requip seems have come to an end Don't know what to do from here.
