I got a dexamethasone injection and prednisone pills to take. both were prescribed by a doctor.
PSSD for 3 years, corticosteroids temporarily cured all PSSD symptoms

I have been saying for 15 years it’s down to cortisol and receptors. If we focused our energy here and get on board with this already we’d solve this.
I knew my first damaged year after a dexamethasone suppression test all symptoms can be reversed with a steroid. Now we just need to know why and how we can maintain improvement. There are a milllion different ways to get steroid system functioning properly abs it’s worth is testing these multiple ways. It’s about retraining the hpa system to respond properly.
Look at the supposed cures in pssd history. We keep seeing licorice prednisone, mifepristone, and antifungals. What is the common pattern here? Cortisol.
We blasted our bodies with serotonin, which in turn revved up our cortisol to levels beyond homeostasis for prolonged time. Receptors got used to high levels of cortisol. Then we pulled the drug out of our bods (usually too quickly) and our glucorticoid receptors didn’t have time to adjust. There is a huge action reaction with cortisol and serotonin. And the biggest clue is how you see people gain weight on ssri’s exactly like they do on high dose steroids. It is why people develop diabetes or become Prediabetic on these drugs. Just Like Steroids!!!

Hi Maxin, may I know if these windows you got awere replicable? Did you only get them on higher dosages of prednisone?Maxin wrote: ↑Tue Jan 05, 2021 4:04 am I have been saying for 15 years it’s down to cortisol and receptors. Do you have cognitive dysfunction, tinnitus, chronic fatigue, anhedonia etc.?
Re: PSSD for 3 years, corticosteroids temporarily cured all PSSD symptoms
Yes I have all those symptoms. Horrendous chronic fatigue. The first year after I quit (was on lexapro 6 months) I had tons of tests done. My cortisol was high so they ran a dexamethasone suppression test to see what was going on. After that first night of taking that pill all my symptoms were gone. So for the first years after I focused all my attention on manipulating cortisol. I took dex, prednisone, and cortisol from a cfs specialist. But it seemed that after the first week of improvements with these (cortisol never helped me) my symptoms would come back. Very frustrating. I also had two week improvements (even my weird belly gate would melt away) from a cortisone injection. I’ve tried this three more times and for some reason the last time didn’t do anything. But I’m wondering if a different type of steroid was used.cdraham wrote: ↑Tue Jan 05, 2021 5:29 amHi Maxin, may I know if these windows you got awere replicable? Okay, were your improvements for 1 week replicable? Or did it only work the first timeMaxin wrote: ↑Tue Jan 05, 2021 12:35 pmYes I have all those symptoms. Horrendous chronic fatigue. Also St Johns Wort has worked for some people and reduces cortisol levels.

Re: PSSD for 3 years, corticosteroids temporarily cured all PSSD symptoms
I’ve also had short-term recoveries from high doses of prednisone....... as well as a rebound libido effect from alcohol (consistently).
Both alcohol withdrawal and prednisone stimulate glucocorticoid receptors (and glutamate and dopamine etc.).
I’ve been reading the Post Finasteride forum a lot, and several guys have reported sexual recovery using a one-week high dose of Mifepristone (which temporarily blocks glucocorticoid receptors, and causes a reset of the HPA). Anyone else looked into this?

Re: PSSD for 3 years, corticosteroids temporarily cured all PSSD symptoms
In 2017 I've read one guy on longecity forum, he tried low dose dexamethasone and said all his sexual problems resolved. Don't remember that he told about pssd. He speculated about p-glycoprotein (brain-blood barrier). Then I found that dexamethasone is used as antidote for accutane toxicity.
Large systemic doses will cause only problems I guess.

Re: PSSD for 3 years, corticosteroids temporarily cured all PSSD symptoms
I used a hydrocortisone cream for piles (caused by PSSD gut issues) not that long ago and both times I used it I had very intense wet dreams, which was strange, which made me wonder about steroids.
Hydrocortisone is a corticosteroid. I thought that these kind of steroids can cause ED though if they're used over an extended period of time.
I also think there's another user who mentioned he crashed from using a corticosteroid cream (twentyoneguns).

Thanks again redox, you missed one important question.Redx07664 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 03, 2021 3:41 pmI masturbated and had an orgasm that was pre-pssd. Have you gone to therapy and talked about your issues with a therapist? I think it would really help you, as it has helped me.Cooperr wrote: ↑Sun Jan 03, 2021 8:18 amRedx07664 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 25, 2020 8:02 pm
On the dosage of corticosteroids, ALL symptoms, everything you may think you have, was reversed. It only lasted about 24 hours but it gave me some hope and something to go off of. I've been down the road of hoping something works and nothing happens so if it doesn't work, don't lose hope. I've felt like there is something wrong in my pelvis, genitals, and sphincter and it was all reversed temporarily.
Any more questions let me know.
Thanks for the response man!! Can we go a little more in detail for clarity? Did you have any scar tissue build- up on your penis? Like very slight peyronie's like issues? Did it heal back too?
Also, did you measure your penis? You were in hospital so i guess you couldn't? How are you 100% sure that the erect girth/ length reversed fully back? Did you masturbate and observed your orgasm sensivity and semen volume too? Was it like pre-pssd? I would probably cry out of happiness when i ejaculate lol! (Im 6 years into this PAS nightmare.)
Im just curious and hope for the best but i have to keep this scientific. Thxx
Did your penis size came back to 100% normal? Have you measured the **girth and length** to see it? (Glans shape/ engorging and all that..)
Also was pc muscles and penis itself as hard as pre-pssd? Any more details would be good to hear!
