It seems to me that we have more evidence and anecdotal evidence for the neurosteroid theory at this point than the SERT downregulation theory. Dunno, maybe they're interconnected.

If you look even at how estradiol treats PSSD in mice and how it has helped our friend here, I think it's more likely that PSSD is more a hormonal thing.
alright Dolt, but how does estrogen curing PSSD symptoms prove the neurosteroid theory?
Hormones modulate neurotransmission. It's all related. I don't think we can reliably say it's this and not that at this point. If it works, who cares.

I know you'll say this, I'm not native English speaker so I couldn't find a better word, I wanted to say that it goes more in favor of that theory if you ask me. Because I think hormones and neurosteroid levels are stronger related than hormones and SERT in specific.

On the anecdotal evidence side, Pete recovered from low dosing SSRI and it was such a small dose that it didn't bind to SERT but even such small doses have been proven to alter neurosteroid levels.
Many of us have elevated progesterone levels and we have nearly identical if not totally indentical symptoms as PFS sufferers.

Do we have any evidence that we have downregulated SERT? We have at least some pattern in hormonal abnormalities.

I'm not saying it's not interconnected with SERT theory, we need to research more.

Man, if this treatment improves libido that much then I would be willing to try it. As long as the effects are permanent.

Currently there's no neasured effect on 5ht from finasteride, but one thing finasteride, isotretenoin, and SSRIs have in common - they all affect steroidogenesis.

Well I just had a rock hard erection that I maintained for an hour. So its safe to say I no longer have physical ED. However I still cannot get psychogenic erections or maintain an erection standing up. That's all that is left.

I have my urologist apointment on the 30th, I am going to see if I can get him to prescribe cialis, niacian, requip and buspiron (realistically I won't get all of those but any would be good)
21, male, extreme pssd for four years
Tried inositol (slight improvements) cialis (very limited improvements) yohimbine (slight improvements) maca root (no effect) bacopa monieri (no effect) estradiol-17b (pronounced improvement in all areas of sexuality)

I must have missed something. If this treatment is looking this hopeful, why would you take more prescriptions? Also, are you like, ecstatic right now?

What dose are you still taking ? And just the estradiol and no DHT? How many weeks have passed since you began?

I don't remember which was your PSSD base emotional state. Were you anhedonic and now can you see life in whole color again?
