Anyone else have the gene Gs224 (causes low dopamine)?

Unread post by DrugsAreBad »

You have two copies of a GCH1 variant associated with lower levels of tetrahydrobiopterin (BH4) and total biopterins. BH4 is used in the production of several neurotransmitters, including serotonin and dopamine.
...
There may not be enough BH4 to convert phenylalanine to tyrosine.
...
...there will be lower available tyrosine, which is needed to create dopamine. Therefore there may not be enough dopamine...
Information about the gene: https://www.snpedia.com/index.php/gs224

If you've done a gene test, you can find out if you have the gene by using the promethease site: https://www.promethease.com/

Ghost has a bunch of DNA data. Maybe if he's around he could check?

Yea I still have all of the data. In fact, about a month ago I fixed the computer that was housing it and died spring 2019.

updating it and getting it ready to go again is no small task, but I do find it interesting and would encourage anyone interested to help out. Just PM me about it. I'll try to follow up in a few days.

Any news on this? I sent a PM about two months ago and never got a reply.

Basically what I suggest is taking the gene files and submitting all of the to promethease. It's just a web interface where you upload the files. Alternatively, if you share the files I can do it.
