Anyone here have a scientific background?

Hi everyone

PSSD network have someone who has produced a more 'easy to understand for non scientists' summary of Prof Melcangi's work. This is to help those of us who aren't scientists understand the research a bit better. This is with a view to
(a) more people donating to the research fund
and
(b) enabling people to be informed so that they can contribute questions for a future podcast / interview that PSSD network will be conducting with Prof Melcangi.

Is there anyone here who has a good grasp of the science of PSSD and Melcangi's research who would be willing and able to check the summary and see if it seems somewhat accurate?

There have been a few over the years. They generally give up and move on because of the unscientific approach and wild non-factual theories many here have. Also does not help that a lot of hate is directed towards doctors, even ones that genuinely want to help (I personally know a psychiatrist that was insulted so bad they walked away just short of tears.) You will run into many that spout off terms and such that they "think" they understand and have become knowledgeable on subjects just because they read a few things on the internet. Some people do not seem to understand that just because you have researched a specific tidbit does NOT mean you know every branch below it. Without that knowledge, a wrongful conclusion can be drawn. That is the way science works.

As far as the accuracy of the "research" you are interested in, it is too soon to draw any conclusion. Even he has not drawn one yet. Is it possible? Sure. Is it the answer? NO way of knowing until the research is followed thru. Even he has not stated he is convinced it will pan out. No real scientist goes into a research project to prove their theory. They go in with an open mind to gather information and look for all possible correlations. It is human nature that if you go in with your mind pre-made up, you are only going to see evidence that proves what you want it to. Once again, that is the way science works.

I have had sexual dysfunction for about 16 years and have seen several of these PSSD forums come and go and I can say that without a doubt, these forums are worse than they've ever been. I just happened to take a look at this forum after many years and saw this post. I have given up on trying to figure out what's wrong with me but I can say that if you're looking for answers, you''re probably not going to find them here. You're much better off looking for someone who actually works in the field like a urologist.
