Here is the distribution of 5-HT1A receptor in the human brain. This receptor is both pro sexual and antisexual depending on where you activate it, since drugs are mostly non-selective in what pathway they do stimulate, it is hard to predict both short-term and long-term effects of the supplementation.

I am not a big fan neither of "simple" theories such as "it's all due to this receptor" nor of animal studies, but I am surprised nobody mentioned ginkgo biloba here, although there are lots of animal studies showing its potential for 5HT1a resensitization.
For instance:
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/7628830/
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/8051617/
https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/a ... 8418311089
https://link.springer.com/article/10.10 ... 21-02281-5

For those who are convinced it's 5ht1a desensitization, GBe could be an good trial.

I had a good (everything was back) but short (one week) window on ginkgo. I stopped after the window but improvements on my sleep have remained, so I guess this wasn't only placebo.

I used many times GB with little effect but after I read your post I read again the bibliography about GB and that true I took 120mg extract 50:1 and in most study they used 240 to 360 a day. I still have some at home, will try higher doses, doesn't seem very harmful.

Ginkgo biloba has been listed here as harmful: https://www.pssdforum.org/viewtopic.php?p=39245#p39245
I would avoid 5ar-inhibitor but I haven't found anything proving that GBe is one - and this post lists so many things (vitamin D!?) without any reference...
