Has anyone recoverd from anafranil

Unread post by Numbtomind 2 »

Hello, new here and I've been experiencing complete loss of sexual disfunction from a med called anafranil. I was on it for 4 months for OCD and anxiety. I noticed it took away my libido and gave me pretty bad ED. I stopped quickly and tappered off but the sexual side effects still linger for 6 months. Has anyone had any treatment success with this snri. Compared to ssri I wonder witch is more potent. Thanks for reading.
75mg Clomipramine. june-july 2018
(Anxiety/Ocd)

Current symtoms I'm experiencing.
Emotional numbness, Pleasurless activities, Complete sexual system shutdown.

Anafranil is not a SNRI, it's tricyclic AD. Check a drug called bethanechol because there was some studies concerning it reversing sexual dysfunctions caused by tricyclic ADs.
Finding a cure is only a matter of time! Never quit!

How is your PSSD now? You haven't posted updates since long ago.

I’m in the same boat. I developed PSSD from Clomipramine only after more than two years of use.
In the first 2 years on this drug the only problems were delayed ejaculation/anejaculation. After 2 years I started experiencing ED and low libido.

Now it’s 7 months since I discontinued that poison and I still suffer from ED and low libido.

Anyway, I spoke with a guy on Reddit who recovered from one year of Clomipramine induced PSSD thanks to Buspirone 5 mg daily.

I tried Buspirone the first 2 weeks after the discontinuation of Clomipramine but I didn’t notice any improvements.
Maybe it was too early or I didn’t take it long enough.
I’m planning to give Buspirone a second try in the near future.

Personally I noticed major improvements when I reinstated Mianserin 7,5 mg for a week (I took it for almost 2 years along with Clomipramine).

I decided to reinstate Mianserin after 7 months “clean” because my situation was worsening (Cialis 5 mg stopped working) and because I think my libido and erectile problems started when I replaced Mianserin with Trazodone.
After 5/6 months of Trazodone + Clomipramine my libido was dead.
(plus I used Mianserin when I was younger in 2016 without sexual side effects).

At first I noticed a strong increase in libido and better erections quality (Cialis 5 mg started working again) but those improvements faded away after 3/4 days and I went back to baseline.
I stopped because I was scared to worsen the situation but maybe I’ve been too impulsive.

I’m planning to try again Mianserin as well soon since those 3/4 days were amazing.

Sorry for any mistakes. English is not my native language.
Anafranil (Clomipramine) May 2019-October 2021
Lantanon (Mianserin) May 2019-May 2021
Trittico (Trazodone) May 2021-October 2021
Rivotril (Clonazepam) May 2019-present

PSSD since October 2021

Symptoms: low libido and severe ED
