Pindolol - Preference for pre-synaptic 5ht1a

Pindolol acts as a partial agonist at 5ht1a. It appears this translates as antagonism, effectively. Pindolol appears to have preference for blocking presynaptic receptors, meaning it theoretically disrupts the negative feedback loop without affecting postsynaptic receptors — in turn, more serotonin ...

Re: An Excellent Explaination of How SSRI's Inhibit Sert

I think downregulation of sert could also be the cause for chronic serotonin syndrome, which I believe I have. There is new research coming out about this syndrome. But no one has investigated the mechanisms yet. https://neurologyindia.com/article.asp?issn=0028-3886;year=2016;volume=64;issue=6;spage...

Re: Turmeric Curcumin

Disclaimer that my PSSD consists of extreme anxiety and depression, terrible sleep, low libido, and PE/muted orgasm. Also, I’ve had no significant sexual improvements from turmeric (no harm though). In fact, some days it feels like my libido is better. 1/8tsp organic Turmeric powder (I eat two black...

Re: PSSD could be small fiber polyneuropathy

Sure. You mentioned dysregulation of the sleep/wake cycle, emotions, and sexual functioning. Those are the three symptoms I have. I don't have any pain or tingling, though. I do remember that when I was on ssri/snri, especially venlafaxine, I almost always had tingling in my hands and feet upon waki...

Re: PSSD could be small fiber polyneuropathy

I don't have any outward signs of hormone dysregulation, such as muscular atrophy (although my T levels were 357). I'm definitely weaker but I think this is because I stopped working out, due to anhedonia. My PSSD got significantly worse after I had hives in 2020. However, I am not sure if the hives...

Re: the drug that cured long-covid individuals (BC 007)

I think in case of PSSD the autoimmune disease is induced by some sort of active infection. probably in the gut This is one of the theories with covid long haul I believe. They call it viral persistence. Yeah. In our case its more likely it is an actice infection we can test for Everything points t...

Re: Gut microbiota theory and the cure

So does the gut get messed up from the initial instatement of SSRIs or from the discontinuation of them? I remember having diarrhea the very first time I tried citalopram. But now, if I take citalopram, I have no GI side effects.

Re: What is the "crash"?

I think the longest I went without SSRIs since PSSD was two months. I have since spent my time going off and on to try to cure severe depression. In hindsight though, I wish I would have let my body adjust to being off the drugs, in case I was experiencing withdrawals more than anything. At this poi...

Re: Low dose mirtazapine is prosexual

DISCLAIMER: I have tried many supplements and have never permanently crashed from them. So, my form of PSSD might be different than yours. TL;DR - Mirtazapine has given me my largest antidepressant window in 2 years. Not sure if it’s a rebound effect, or just the delayed antidepressant effect of the...
