Re: Do you have other symptoms post-SSRI beyond sexual ones?
Thanks for the inputs everyone. I don't believe it's my age alone, but if others haven't been affected in this way, perhaps I have had a rare side effect or it is related to something else. I agree weight training is so important, I acutally use 8 lb weights every other day for my arms, helps to ton...

Re: Do you have other symptoms post-SSRI beyond sexual ones?
I guess the lasting thing for me is a change in my ability to lose weight. I used to be like a stick in my 20's and 30's but more importantly, I could lose weight at the drop of anyone's hat. Not that I'm fat really, it's more my weight seems stuck in one place. My diet is low fat, sugar, more fish l...

Re: Interesting article on sexual health and neurotransmitters
This article really supports the idea that many neurotransmitters are involved in normal sexual functioning, besides the ones we all hear about ---dopamine and serotonin. This article discusses the important role of acetycholine; I just read and saw something on that this week, how acetylcholine is ...

Re: Have you ever had sex before PSSD?
I guess I am lucky in the regard I did get to experience sex before PSSD. I have memories of what is normal for me. One thing profound is that sexual fantasies were pretty much lost or changed. I have a memory of having vivid fantasies which somehow tied into my libido. I will share this in detail f...

Re: Does anyone think about suicide?
Ghost, that's a good point....I'm not sure what you mean by this is something that I will never be proud of...? Sometimes, maybe we are--our worst enemy. I know that honestly I blame myself for my mind and my deficits. I feel shame sometimes. That's where the work comes in...call it self-talk, praye...

Visiting the doctor: Take Two
June 1st I went to one doctor, this time I went to my regular doctor the one that prescribed Citalopram in the first place. My appointment was specifically to discuss PSSD. Brought three different articles, including two from Rxisk. Was prepared for Dr. to deny PSSD, or at least my PSSD. Doctor did ...

Re: trying to understand Curcumin's possible benefits
I will take a look at the article you cited, looks very detailed. The sentence in the article I cited that made me question curcumin's possible PSSD benefits is: "It is important to mention here that monoamine oxidase is the enzyme that is involved in the degradation of norepinephrine, serotonin...

trying to understand Curcumin's possible benefits
Curcumin allegedly can help the brain; I was interested in it from the BDNF factor, however ran across an article discussing Curcumin that is leaving me with more questions on how it may help: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2929771/ I always note the source and the date--this article is...

Re: Does anyone think about suicide?
Sometimes, I have had a strange thought, that maybe I would be better off dead than alive because all of the crap I have been through, from divorce, loss of love, loss of a parent, loss of my sexuality. It seems I have lost so much in life and life has not turned out anything like I wished for. But,...
